VW updates the e-UP! EV and things are looking…UP! (I’m really sorry for that pun.)
The short version:
- Volkswagen has released the specs and pricing for the new e-Up! electric vehicle.
- The e-Up! is the least expensive mass-produced EV in Britain, (minus the Renault Twizy) coming it at £19,695 or $25,580.
- The new model also includes a range of 153 miles, up from 83 miles.
- Other features include heated front seats, rain-sensing wipers, and electrically heated and adjustable door mirrors.
I really want to trust VW and its electric plans. I think the company talks a big game, and there is no way it can keep up with the publicized manufacturing goals. I think the marketing department is playing a dangerous game with the brand, and they need to dial it back. That being said, its exciting to see VW release an electric vehicle for the masses. A range of 153 miles wouldn’t work for me, but it would work for a lot of people. I predict that we are going to see a lot more of these types of EVs. A modest range, good features, and a price that people can afford. Well done Volkswagen, I hope this is the first of many.
