Indonesia's president is betting big on the EV industry

The short version: 

  •  Indonesian President Joko Widodo has signed a decree that spells out how the Indonesian government will help build an EV industry in Southeast Asia.
  •  Details are a little light, but the decree includes incentives to increase production and purchases.
  •  There is also a focus on the construction of batteries and the raw materials needed to produce said batteries.
  •  The goal is to start EV production in 2022 and to reach 20% of total car production by 2025.

It’s always exciting to see new countries take the EV revolution seriously, especially a country like Indonesia. With their raw material resources and focus on battery production, they could have a real impact on the industry.
