California wants to make charging stations accept your credit card.
The short version:
- California is trying to pass a law making all public chargers accept credit cards and other forms of payment.
- According to the article, most charging companies don’t want card readers on their machines.
- Companies feel that adding card readers to chargers would increase cost and potential fraud.
Most people agree that we need more charging stations. The argument is how, and how much governmental oversight is needed. I personally believe that we don’t need more laws to make companies do one thing or another. Instead, we need to let these companies innovate, create, explore, and do what they do. We as consumers reward their good ideas by using their services. Once a company comes out with the idea that works the best, the industry will flock to it, no law required.
