Bollinger set a date! The countdown begins.
The short version:
- Bollinger Motors sent an email to all reservation holders stating they will announce suggest retail price for the B1 and B2 on Thursday, October 24th.
- Reservation holders will have one week to place a $1,000 deposit to secure their place in line.
- The general public will also be able to place an order, but they will be behind the reservation holders.
- All deposits are fully refundable at any time.
Here’s what I like about this. Bollinger is smart to do this before Tesla’s truck announcement. Although I don’t think Bollinger sees Tesla as a competitor, it’s still a good move to take some news cycles before Tesla dominates the EV news world for a few days/weeks. I also like that Bollinger is unapologitically what it is. A guy wanted to build a vehicle that he wanted to drive, so he did. If other people like it, great, they can buy one. If they don’t like it, they can buy something else.
My prediction, Bollinger will get a handful, less than 2,000, people who will place an order. The truck will be over $75,000 which is way more than anybody but a car collector or a wealthy EV enthusiast would want to spend on such an eclectic vehicle. It will also take years for them to fulfill the orders they received.
Think I’m wrong? What are your predictions?
