US keeps adding to its solar contributions.
The short version:
- The share of solar in the country’s overall electricity mix continues to rise, as revealed by the latest statistics from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA).
- Total output from both rooftop and largescale installs rose by 9%.
- Solar met 2.7% of the nation’s electricity needs for the past 6 months.
- California met 17.4% of its needs with solar, with Hawaii at 14.5%, and Nevada at 14.1%
Like I’ve said before and will continue to say, 2.7% is a small number. Very small. But you have to start somewhere. If we only got excited about 25% or more, we would need to layout billions, perhaps trillions of dollars at once. That just isn’t realistic. As long as there is growth, I’ll keep celebrating.
